Every year since 2018, SDRC carries out a mapping exercise of dementia research, which examines data on project funding and journal publications involving researchers based in Scotland, as well exploring international collaboration. However, it is important to emphasize that brain health and dementia research in Scotland goes far beyond data and figures. The upcoming SDRC Annual Report 2024/5 which will offer a broader, more in-depth picture of the work being done by our research community by highlighting specific ongoing projects and the meaningful difference they are making in the lives of those living with, or at risk of developing, dementia.
In 2024 there was:
- 27 grant awards made, totalling £12,480,337.80
- 297 published papers
- 655 active dementia/ brain health researchers in Scotland
- 1498 international collaborators across 37 countries
About the SDRC
The Scottish Dementia Research Consortium (SDRC) is a network of over 1000 dementia researchers, policy makers and people living with dementia from across Scotland. The membership-based organisation was formed in 2013. SDRC champions the work of world-class dementia researchers in all disciplines across Scotland. In addition, the SDRC aims to help develop this research further still by promoting collaboration and the sharing of new ideas among its membership.
